Practicing at home? No drum kit needed.
Beginning students can practice at home with a drum pad and sticks. Not sure which to get? A rubber pad keeps noise low. A plastic pad has a more natural response but makes more sound. These kits run about $40, making them more affordable for the beginner or young drum set player.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our music lessons
Do I need a drum kit at home to practice?
No. Our studios are fully equipped with professional drum kits. For home practice, an affordable drum pad and sticks is all you need to get started. We sell them right here in the studio so you do not have to guess what to buy.
Drums are loud. How do I keep the noise level down at home?
You have a few good ones. A rubber practice pad keeps things quiet and costs around $40. A plastic pad has a more natural feel but makes more sound. An electronic drum kit is the best of both worlds for home practice. When you come to Rhythm & Grooves, we’ll walk you through the best choice.
What is the difference between drum set lessons and percussion
lessons at Rhythm & Grooves?
Drum set lessons focus on the full kit which includes the kick, snare, hi hat, toms, and cymbals. Percussion lessons cover concert and world percussion instruments and are a great complement to school band programs, rock bands and worship bands.
What styles of music do you teach in drum set lessons?
We offer drum set lessons in a wide variety of musical genres. Rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues, country and pop are all covered. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Give us a call and tell us what you’re looking for.
How long before my child can play a full song?
Most students are playing recognizable beats and simple songs within their first few months. Consistent weekly practice makes a big difference. You can also add in additional lessons or extend lesson times to help them excel further.
What if we need to miss a lesson?
Cancel at least six hours before your scheduled lesson and you will receive a makeup credit. Makeup credits expire after 60 days so be sure to use them.
Is there a long term contract or semester minimum?
None. Every student is month to month. If you need to stop lessons just let us know by the 15th of your last month and that is it.
