Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor is a vocalist based in Memphis, Tennessee, well-versed in multiple styles including R&B, Gospel, Musical Theatre, and Classical singing. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Memphis’s Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. He earned his Master of Music degree from Arizona State University and his Bachelor of Music from the University of Tennessee at Martin. His primary instructors have included Dr. Roberto Mancusi (UTM), Dr. Stephanie Weiss (ASU), and Prof. Matt Burns (University of Memphis).
Darius has extensive experience performing both as a soloist and as an ensemble member. His ensemble work includes membership in the auditioned choirs at UTM, the graduate choral ensemble at ASU, and the operatic choruses of Opera Memphis and Opera Steamboat. As a soloist, he has appeared in numerous operas and musicals and has been invited to serve as a featured soloist in select choral works. His performances have taken him across the United States and internationally to New Zealand.
In his free time, Darius enjoys cooking—experimenting with new recipes and adding his personal touch to classic dishes. He also values spending time with his dog, close friends (and their dogs), and family.
