Madeline Hawkins

Madeline Hawkins is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education. During her time at the UofM, she was an active member of several ensembles, including University Singers, the University’s flagship SATB ensemble. She also participated in the treble ensemble Mazi led by Dr. Francis Cathlina, and the SATB ensemble Collegiate Choir, led by Mr. Joseph Powell. She is a member of MemphisChoralArts Women’s Chorale, Memphis’ largest community choral organization.

Beyond performing, Madeline is an active participant in the music education community, participating in professional development opportunities through organizations like NAfME, ACDA, and TnMEA. She is especially passionate about connecting with students and fellow educators around innovative, inclusive teaching practices. By integrating movement-based and kinesthetic learning strategies into her choral teaching, she helps singers of all skill levels reinforce vocal technique, musical understanding, and increases student engagement.

In spring 2026, Madeline will co-present at the Tennessee Music Educators Association (TnMEA) Annual Conference. Her session, “Ctrl + Alt + Z: Rebooting Student Engagement for the Digital Generation” focuses on creative, tech-savvy strategies for reaching today’s students and building meaningful engagement in the choral classroom.

Outside of music, Madeline enjoys singing, journaling, playing guitar, spending time with friends, and watching shows such as Suits, Criminal Minds, and The Pitt.
