Nathan Hiers

Nathan Hiers is an active freelance trombonist and low brass instructor in the Mid-South. He is currently pursuing a DMA in trombone pedagogy and performance. He earned his Master’s degree and Artist Diploma from the University of Memphis, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University. He has studied with Martin McCain, Elisabeth Shafer, John Mueller, and Doug Farwell.

Nathan has performed with groups such as the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the Memphis Jazz Orchestra, the Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra, Grind City Brass, the Sonorous Brass Quintet, and many more. He has performed at conferences and competitions such as the Big 12 Trombone Conference, CBDNA, and NABBA. He has performed and toured in Texas, Indiana, New York City, Tennessee, South Carolina, and beyond.

Aside from low brass, Nathan enjoys cooking, reading, exercising, composing contemporary and alternative music, and traveling.
