Happy August, Academy families!

We hope everyone’s had a great start to the new school year—and that you’re finding ways to stay cool in this sweltering August heat!🥵 We’ve got a lot to share with you this month, so let’s dive in!

We Love Referrals!

One of the biggest ways the Academy continues to grow is through enrolling outstanding students like you. The greatest compliment you can give us is referring a friend or family member! For every person you refer who registers for lessons, you’ll receive a $25 gift card—your choice of Amazon, Apple, or Google Play—as our way of saying thank you. Just make sure they mention your name at registration so we can send your gift!

New Instructors & Instrument Options!

We’re excited to welcome a few new faces to our instructor team this month! You can check out their bios on our Instructor page. With their arrival, we’re able to expand our lesson offerings to include flute, piccolo, upright bass, and cello. Stay tuned—we’re continuing to look for other qualified instructors to meet even more of your instrument needs.

2026 Winter Recital Sign-Ups

Sign-ups for the 2026 Winter Recital will open on October 1, 2025, with the schedule released in mid-November. We’re planning for the recital to take place the weekend of January 17–18, 2026. Be sure to mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details or updates!

MMS - The Scheduling & Learning Portal

Everyone should have received the Portal Login Setup email for My Music Staff (MMS), our new scheduling system. We ask that all students, parents, and instructors use MMS for scheduling needs—especially for lesson cancellations. This helps our administrators keep an accurate record of lessons given and lessons owed. Our goal in using MMS is simple: more transparency and better communication!

Students and parents can also find their instructor’s contact email address under the Contact Info tab in the portal.

If you haven’t received your setup email, or if you have any questions about using MMS, please email kat@rhythmandgroovesmusic.com and she’ll be happy to help.

Updates to MLS Awards

To help streamline and simplify the MLS process, we’re updating the way certificates and trophies are given out. Accomplishments will be collected throughout the month, and during the first week of the following month, awards will be presented to students and photos taken (with permission). We’ll communicate the exact weekdays in advance so everyone knows when to expect their awards. If a student misses their lesson that week, their instructor will present the award at the next lesson.

Please note: trophies are currently backlogged but have been ordered. They may take some time to arrive, but we’ll make sure students receive them as soon as possible.

Musical Ladder System® Achievements

Rhythm & Grooves Music Academy is proud to participate in the Musical Ladder System, which awards students with certificates, colorful wristbands, and even trophies!
